ABOUT THE STUDIO

 ðŸ’«Welcome to Pilates with Susan 

​

At Pilates with Susan, I believe in empowering women to reconnect with their bodies through mindful movement. My home studio space in Canterbury south is warm,welcoming, and fully equipped. Our Merrithew Reformers are widely regarded as the best in the industry. They’re designed for both comfort and performance, helping you move safely and get the most out of every session.

 

At Pilates with Susan the 6 Pilates Principles ~ 

Concentration, Control, Centering, Precision,Breath and Flow are at the heart of every class, whether on the Reformer or the Mat. This is a mind body connection experience that strengthens, aligns and energises.

 

Pilates Mat online/in studio group class (Hybrid) runs once a week on a Monday night. Mat Pilates Private or group lesson by appointment.

Reformer classes run from Monday evening through to Saturday. They are taught in a small group session (max 4), thoughtfully designed for each participant. It is a truly individual experience! 

 

You will feel stronger, more confident and inspired to continue your Reformer Journey.with 

 

The recently refurbished studio radiates warmth and positivity leaving clients refreshed and invigorated.

STUDIO PHILOSOPHY

I have taught people from all walks of life and believes Pilates offers something for everyone. Crossing paths with dancers, office workers, athletes, pre and post natal ladies and has seen Pilates work wonders for their bodies and minds.

People should leave a workout feeling refreshed and energised rather than sore and wiped out. I aim to give my clients a total body workout so they are sure to see and feel positive results while enjoying the journey. 

 

There's no room to worry about the demands of daily life while in a class here in the studio . Whether it’s face to face or Zoom, I will ensure you realise the mind body connection Pilates offers. My cues will help you focus on your breath with fluid movements taking your connection to the next level.

 

Most important encouraging all clients to work at their own pace and to the best of their ability. I will offer modifications when needed, there are no grades or judgement in Pilates. Just the mind body connection and the flow of strength and movement.

My Reformer studio offers a more intimate, personal environment where you’re never just a number. Whether your new to Pilates or looking to deepen your practice, I’d love to welcome you to a class tailored to your needs .

Hi, I’m Susan

​

Founder of Pilates with Susan, passionate movement specialist and lifelong advocate for health and fitness.

​

My journey in the fitness industry began in 1988 completing my Exercise and Physiology Certification UNSW.

This led me into the world of  high energy Aerobics where I spent an amazing 20 years teaching.

Along the way I built my expertise in Fitness Leader 1,2 & 3 

​

A natural progression was when Pilates became a turning point in my professional journey and I’ve never looked back .

In 2008, I earned my Pilates Matwork certification  fundamental, intermediate, advanced, this I included Pre and post natal Pilates .

​

I also became a certified YogaFit Instructor, further expanding my approach in mindful movement. Teaching both methods to the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs, Professional Dancers, School sport program, Workshops & running classes at my home business .

​

Most recently I was announced  the Winner Pilates Contemporary Instructor 2024 at the Pilates Expo hosted at Olympic Park. 

Also, Showcased in my journey as the Aus Active Fitness Professional.

  

Today, my primary focus is on Reformer Pilates ~ where I run exclusive classes 6 days a week, working closely with clients to strengthen, realign and reconnect with their bodies.
 

As a certified Stott Reformer Instructor which includes Reformer Pre and Post Natal,  I combine years of movement experience with a deep understanding of anatomy and functional training.Each class is designed to challenge, support,and transform, all while staying true to the 6 Pilates principles.

​

As a Mobility Practitioner from the Mobility Fitness Academy I seamlessly integrate joint strengthening and mobility training into both my Reformer and Mat classes.

​

With over 30 years experience, my focus remains on helping women enhance their strength, mobility ( MFA) and overall well being through a unique blend of classical and contemporary Pilates.

 

  1. Outside the studio you will find me by the beach which is my happy place , swimming at the pools , long walks with my dogs & just enjoying the outdoors . 
    Quality time with my family is precious & settling down to have movie nights is my absolute favourite. Whatever makes my soul happy ... that's me .
